TL;DR: SEO = make pages easy for searchers and search engines. Start with keywords → write helpful pages → earn a few good links → improve over time.
What is SEO (in plain English)?
Search Engine Optimization means making your pages clearer and more useful so Google and others can understand them and show them to the right people. It’s part content, part tech, part reputation (links).
Why it matters for you (and me)
Higher visibility = more of the right visitors. On SEOlutions.com I’m documenting exactly what I try—and what actually moves the needle—so other beginners don’t waste time.
The 3 building blocks
- Keyword research: find the words people already type (e.g., “how to start SEO,” “keyword research for beginners”).
- On-page basics: write one focused page per topic. Put the main phrase in the title, intro, subheads, URL, and naturally in the text. Add a helpful image with alt text.
- Links & trust: earn links by publishing useful guides, checklists, and real results. Even a few relevant links help more than dozens of random ones.
A simple 7-day starter plan
- Day 1: Make a list of 10 beginner questions you can answer. Pick 1 keyword for each.
- Day 2: Outline the first post (problem → steps → checklist).
- Day 3: Write the post in plain English. Add 1–2 images with descriptive alt text.
- Day 4: On-page tune-up: title, slug, H2/H3s, internal links to related categories, meta description, excerpt.
- Day 5: Publish and request indexing in Google Search Console.
- Day 6: Share the post where your audience hangs out. Ask for feedback.
- Day 7: Improve the post (answer a new question, add screenshots, clarify steps).
Common beginner mistakes to avoid
- Chasing too many keywords on one page.
- Thin content that doesn’t actually solve the searcher’s problem.
- Ignoring internal links and descriptive anchor text.
- Forgetting images need alt text (accessibility + relevance).
- Expecting results overnight—most gains take weeks to months.
What I’ll track here
I’ll keep updating posts with: what I changed, when I requested indexing, and what moved. If you’re learning with me, copy this workflow and improve it.
