This week’s SEOlutions briefing covers two confirmed releases from October 13, 2026. The priority is preserving working metadata, editing and lead capture—not assuming that a plugin update will improve rankings.
1. Yoast SEO 28.7: check custom code and metadata
Yoast’s October 13 release announcement confirms that connected AI tools can now update SEO titles, meta descriptions and social titles and descriptions through its Abilities integration. WordPress permissions still apply; the focus keyphrase remains read-only through that integration.
The release also removes deprecated code. Sites using custom Yoast integrations should check for the removed WPSEO_Frontend class and retired social actions. The wpseo_robots_array filter must return an array; another return type can cause a fatal error.
Test: Back up first and update staging. Review theme and plugin compatibility, then compare the source of a service page and a post before and after updating.
Success measure: No new PHP errors, and titles, descriptions, canonical URLs, robots directives and social metadata match the intended settings. AI access is optional, not a requirement.
2. Elementor: verify editing, forms and filtered content
The official October 13 changelog lists Elementor Core 4.3.5 fixes for editing with Internal CSS Embedding and opening Theme Builder from the frontend. Pro 4.3.2 addresses ignored Loop term filters and strengthens form-handling security enforcement.
These fixes matter where affected features are used. The changelog does not establish a ranking improvement or prove that any particular site was affected.
Test: On staging, edit and save a representative page, reopen its template, check mobile navigation and verify any category-filtered Loop. Submit a clearly labeled test inquiry through each important form and confirm receipt.
Success measure: Editing works, filters return the intended content, layouts remain intact and every test inquiry reaches its destination without new errors.
What this means for our sites
These are proposed checks, not completed tests. No portfolio changes were deployed during the October 15 maintenance attempt because source access failed and Search Console reporting was unavailable. There is no verified before-and-after result to report.
This week’s priority: Check installed versions and compatibility, test the relevant features, then update production after validation. Keep a dated change log and assess search performance separately from functional checks.
